Never retained a trophy, won the two domestic cups on penalties after bore draws, and won a league title which has to be taken on trust because no one was there to see it

Why are the Manc fans having a go at a manager who the club was falling over themselves to sign, but he had the good sense to turn them down? A touch of bitterness methinks.

In nine years Klopp won:
1 X Champions League.
1 X Premier League.
1 X F.A. Cup.
Pep managed that in two weeks.

He is a very good manager but finishing 8th, 4th, 4th, 2nd,1st, 3rd, 2nd. 5th........I woudn't call him a great manager, worthy of the accolades he has been receiving over the last week.

No bitterness here ahcawntspeyk.

He should have managed a top club then instead of going to an unambitious club who wouldn't spend to succeed.

Here's some reality for all you Mancs who keep banging on about Ferguson. He was lucky enough to be the manager of a team who won league titles simply because the rest of the teams in the league where bang average.. Or worse!

That's the "reality" I have been banging on about for decades ever since Liverpool were winning European Cups in the 70s meeting teams like the "mighty" Club Brugge in the finals

Arsenal never lost a game all season in the fergy era,
But they were only average,

So what? Arsenal had one great season what did they do apart from that?

United's highest ever points total when they won the title was 92 they would struggle to get a look in with that tally these days.

From 1989 to 2005 arsenal won 5 league titles and 5 fa cups,
Not bad for an average team.

They also beat Borussia Munchengladbach in the 70s who were a useful side, but don't mention them eh?

They also beat the absolutely pathetic Real Madrid and crap Roma in the eighties. But better not mention them as well eh?

Tiger cat

United won a title with 84 points from 42 games so how hard was that league that season then? They also won other titles with less than 90 points which would be nowhere near good enough today.

And Arsenal won a league title with 76 points.... Again nowhere near good enough today

Accs, that could be because most teams were of a decent standard and took points off each other,
Not like last few years.

Understandable i suppose given we were winning the P L on a regular basis under the brilliant S A F and given it took the dippers 30 years .

ahcawntspeyk.

"gladbach have reached one European Cup final in their history so have Roma, hardly European power houses then, and that tells you exactly the strength of European football in the late 70s early 80s when winning the English League title virtually guaranteed a team a place in at least the semi finals.
The fact Nottingham Forest have won twice as many European Cups than league titles puts it into perspective.
Before Liverpool met Brugge in the 78 final they played 6 games (that's games not ties) in the competition and lost two of those.
By far the weakest period in European Cup football history
You are correct about one thing though Madrid were absolutely pathetic then.

You are just bitter whups, clinging on to, and believing the nonsense the red top comics feed you, in order to sooth your furrowed brow.

Look to your own club for their failings instead of blaming THE WORLD CHAMPIONS for trafford's own inadequacies.

THE WORLD CHAMPIONS are simply a business run properly, which is why trafford have poached a top quality executive in an effort to replicate at trafford the successful template that is, THE WORLD CHAMPIONS.

BTW, are you bothering to travel all the way to trafford this weekend for the match?.............no, didn't think so.

You are like all the other bar room "know nowts", you read what you see on partisan social media sites along with the dumb down red top comics and assume that is correct. You mix it up with your own fantasies and, Hey presto, you post nonsense.

Perhaps the reason why United are not having the same success they had they had in the days of Busby, Docherty and Ferguson is because they no longer are the most successful and attractive club now that that many of the other big clubs now have new bigger multi millionairne owners and can attract more of the better well known players and even the more successful managers in world football.

Football is now all about mega bucks contracts in the eyes of both players and managers and not just being at a famous club like in the past!
